How to Remove Drive from RAID?

About removing a drive from RAID

In Disk Management, you can't remove a drive from an existing RAID array by deleting it, but rather by deleting the entire volume. The wizard can handle RAID 0 and RAID 5 volumes, but removing a drive will reduce the array's capacity and won't affect other drives.

Qiling Disk Master can help shrink a software RAID volume and release space from selected dynamic disks. This is useful when you want to reorganize disk space, reduce the number of disks used by a striped volume, or adjust a RAID-5 volume without manually rebuilding the whole disk layout.

Before you remove a drive

Removing a drive from RAID changes the volume structure. Before applying the operation, make sure the remaining disks have enough space and back up important files in case the RAID volume contains business data or irreplaceable personal files.

After the pending operation is confirmed, check the volume status in the main window. If the RAID volume stores active applications or shared files, close related programs first to avoid access conflicts during the operation.
