SyncToy was a simple Microsoft folder sync utility, but it is no longer actively maintained. On Windows 11, users should consider compatibility and data safety.
Folder sync is not the same as backup. If a file is deleted or corrupted on one side, sync may copy that change to the other side.
Plan sync direction before using any tool.
Back up folders before using sync tools that may mirror deletion or overwrite changes.
Step 1. Connect an external drive or choose a safe network location with enough free space for folders you plan to sync.
Step 2. Open Qiling Disk Master and choose File Backup. This protects files before cleanup, partition changes, repair, or system updates.
Step 3. In the tree control, select the files and folders that must be protected. Keep an independent backup before testing any two-way or mirror sync workflow
Step 4. Choose a destination that is not affected by the operation, such as another disk, external drive, NAS, or shared folder.
Step 5. Review the source and destination, then click Proceed. Wait for the backup to finish before continuing.
After sync, compare file counts and modified dates. Confirm deleted files were not mirrored unexpectedly.
