Error 0xc0000005 is commonly associated with an access violation: a process tried to access memory in a way that was not permitted. It can appear when starting an application, running an installer, or using Windows, so a single registry change is not a reliable universal fix.
Record the exact message and the program displaying it. One application failing consistently points toward a different investigation from unrelated applications crashing at random.
If only one program fails, note its version, plugins, and recent updates. If an installer fails, identify whether the message comes from that installer or from Windows Setup. If many programs fail or blue screens also occur, examine hardware and system stability.
Search for View reliability history and open the relevant failure details. Note the application and faulting module, but do not assume that a named Windows DLL is necessarily the original cause. Preserve screenshots and logs for the software publisher if assistance is needed.
Restart once, confirm that the installation files came from a trusted source, and disconnect newly added nonessential devices. Avoid downloading individual replacement DLL files from unknown sites.
Back up application documents and exported settings before uninstalling software. A program's files may live outside Documents, particularly for email, accounting, or design applications.
Step 1. Connect an external disk and select File Backup in Qiling Disk Master.
Step 2. Use the tree control to select the required folders. Close applications that are updating those files, and use their supported export feature for active databases.
Step 3. Choose a destination on the external disk, review the task, and click Proceed. Check that the backup is accessible before removing the original application. If the computer cannot complete a backup without crashing, investigate stability before attempting a large reinstall.
Step 1. Check the publisher's Windows 11 requirements and obtain its current compatible version. Temporarily remove optional plugins through the application's supported controls if the failure began after installing one.
Step 2. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Use Repair where the application provides it. Reset can remove application data, so read its warning and verify your backup before selecting it.
Step 3. If repair is unavailable or fails, use the publisher's uninstall and reinstall instructions. Reinstall from the official package and test before restoring optional plugins or custom settings.
Step 4. If the crash began after a graphics or device-driver update and affects hardware-accelerated work, obtain the appropriate driver from the manufacturer or use an available rollback. Avoid changing unrelated drivers simultaneously.
Run a scan through Windows Security or your approved security product. Do not permanently disable security protection or Data Execution Prevention to suppress an access violation; that can hide symptoms while weakening protection.
On a stable system, open Terminal as administrator and run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
Allow each command to finish and record errors. These commands repair Windows components, not third-party program settings or faulty memory.
For failures across multiple applications, save work and run mdsched.exe to schedule Windows Memory Diagnostic. Reported errors need hardware investigation. Restore documented stable memory settings if overclocking was enabled, and seek a technician's help when errors persist. A successful brief test does not exclude every intermittent memory problem.
Verify the official installer source, recreate the USB on known-good media if necessary, and check the target system's compatibility. Disconnect unnecessary peripherals. If the existing Windows installation works, preserve the setup logs and investigate its error rather than immediately deleting all partitions.
An in-place repair started inside a compatible running installation may retain applications and files; booting installation media is not the same workflow. Confirm the final retention choices before proceeding. Repeated failures with different verified media can indicate hardware or storage problems that another reinstall will not solve.
