Error Code 4101: Failed to Create File

This article applies to: Qiling Disk Master all versions.

Introduction:

This error code may occur when performing a full, incremental, or differential backup to a physical disk or a network location such as a NAS (Network Attached Storage) or share/network drive.

  1. Backup is initializing...
  2. Backing up the information of storage device...
  3. The volume 0(C :) is backing up.
  4. Backing up data...
  5. Information Code: 10105
  6. Failed to create file.

Solution1:

Firstly, please check the following items:

  1. Check if ABCore.exe is blocked by your antivirus software. Run ABcore.exe as an administrator from the Qiling Disk Master installation directory to see if it works. If it's blocked, your antivirus software may prompt you to allow it.
  2. Please check if the external drive is disconnected or its drive letter has changed when backing up to an external drive, and reconnect it with the same drive letter as the target path.
  3. To resolve the issue with the NAS being disconnected, delete the NAS.xml file located at C:\ProgramData\QilingBR, and then reconnect the NAS by typing its IP address. This should resolve the problem caused by an unstable network or changes to the user account.
  4. You have enough space on the destination location to accept the image file. The image file is being uploaded to the destination location.
  5. If you're trying to create a full, incremental or differential backup based on an existing backup task, ensure the task is valid. You can check its validity by running the "Check Image" option in the Advanced menu. If it's invalid, reload the task.

Solution2:

If you're getting an error when trying to back up to a NAS or shared drive, check if the target location is connected successfully. This might be due to the computer or NAS where the shared drive is located being shut down. Ensure the destination is connected before attempting backup.

There is one more possible solution you can follow (it applies to v3.2 and lower versions) in addition.

Map the NAS/Share (network drive) as a local drive in Windows

To map your network folder, refer to the screenshot below to guide you through the process.

After successfully mapping the folder, you can back up to the network folder just like backing up to a local location, by following the same steps as you would for a local backup.
